FAGAGNA
Fagagna is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and is an ideal place to relax and enjoy pleasant walks in the surrounding hills. An excellent base for rediscovering the beauty of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Fagagna is located halfway between the mountains and the sea. In the village, you can visit the stork oasis and the Cjase Cocel museum of rural life. Fagagna is also home to the Udine Golf Club, an 18-hole course surrounded by greenery.
While you're here, you can't miss sampling Fagagna cheese at one of its dairies—there are three of them. So why not stop in San Daniele, just a few kilometers away, to sample its excellent prosciutto?
In September, the town comes alive with the traditional donkey race, which has been held for over 130 years on the first Sunday of the month, and the Palio dei Borghi the following weekend, which sees the town's villages compete in the square with a theatrical piece involving adults and children, entirely conceived and created by their own villagers.
